Staying At Backpacker Hostels. What Is It Like In A Hostel? The experience varies. Some hostels are cozy. Others are loud and noisy. Some are very quiet to the point it is boring. It just really depends on the hostel itself. What Is A Backpackers Hostel? It is a place where you can (for the most part) get cheap accommodation. Often, the rooms are dormitory style where you are assigned a bunk bed in a shared room with other travelers. Prices of the bed goes lower the more people are sharing the room (usually in a division of eight, six, or four) and highest when you choose a private room.
